Law Director Josh Stolly told the Finance Committee keeping prosecutors at the Bellefontaine Municipal Court has been problematic for the past six years or so.
He would like to increase the compensation from $60,600 to $72,000 which will be split between two attorneys.
The positions will come open in May and he hopes to have an overlap period for the main administrative attorney.
He also said he hopes to work with Judge Ann Beck to set up more pre-trial conferences to avoid lengthy days of back-to-back trials, many of which get resolved just before going to the bench.
These would ease the work burden on the attorneys and avoid calling in law enforcement officers who often are present for hours of overtime pay.
