Area schools combined to collect more than $160,000 from the most recent tax payment from statewide casinos, according to information from the Ohio Department of Taxation.
Bellefontaine City Schools received $66,446.69 for its second allocation of the year; Benjamin Logan was distributed $43,198.46; Indian Lake received $41,549.46; Riverside was allocated $17,706.50; Ohio Hi-Point was sent $19,247.37; and West Liberty-Salem got $14,759.92.
In all, casinos in Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati distributed a total of $161,356 to area schools for the period between Jan. 1 and June 30.
The Logan County Commission received $138,046.58 for second quarterly tax collection of the year, between April 1 and June 30. That payment is slightly less than the first quarterly casino tax allocation, which was in excess of $140,000.
