Nancy Louise Benedetti — daughter, sister, aunt, friend and volunteer — returned to her heavenly home Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the age of 65.
Her firm belief in God, her servitude and devotion to her family are the hallmarks of Nancy’s life journey.
Nancy was born to the late Phyllis D’Ambrosio and Ralph Benedetti, a homemaker and court stenographer, respectively, in Columbus on May 9, 1951.
She attended Immaculate Conception elementary school, Watterson High School her freshman year and graduated from Whetstone High School in 1969. She attended The Ohio State University and went on to work in procurement and accounts payable with Ohio Health for more than 30 years, but not before she spent several years at Wesley Glen in Worthington serving the elderly and infirmed.
Nancy lived much of her life in service to others. She was a devoted daughter who looked after, and cared for her aging parents over many years. She was an active and dedicated member of the St. Michael Catholic Church parish family and could often be found chairing the annual festival finance committee, buying groceries for the rectory and participating in numerous charitable activities. For many years, Nancy volunteered for the Special Olympics bringing her love and warmth to many children and their families.
While Nancy did not marry or have children of her own, she was a beloved aunt and great-aunt to her many nieces and nephews and their families, sharing with them her patience, humility and example of service.
A sports enthusiast, she enjoyed the fall season watching Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football with her family. She was a fan of women’s college basketball and she enjoyed horse racing and fishing. Nancy was also an avid traveler and enjoyed trips to Germany, Italy, China and multiple cruise ship adventures. She loved spoiling her furry, four-legged family members, Miko and Halen, her cat and dog, respectively.
She is dearly missed by her all her loved ones. Nancy is survived by her brother, John (Karen) Benedetti of Crossville, Tenn.; sister, Mary Ann (Dan) May of Westerville; twin brother, Paul (Nancy) Benedetti of Bellefontaine; sister, Debbie (Roger) Greenberg of Gahanna; triplets siblings, Virginia Ramey of Westerville, Michael (Renee) Benedetti of Delaware and Theresa (Bill) Crosby of Lewis Center; brother, Robert (Kai) Benedetti of Westminster, Calif.; 19 nieces and nephews; and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Her family receives friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St., Worthington. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 5750 N. High St., Worthington, with concelebrants, Father Michael Dinovo and Father Carmen Acuri.
Interment follows at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations be made to Area 6 Special Olympics, 3303 Winchester Pike Columbus, OH 43232 and to Wesley Glen, 5155 N. High St., Worthington, OH 43085.
