Myrna Diane Thompson, 80, of Urbana, passed away peacefully at 11:04 a.m. on March 18, 2021 at Hearth and Home of Urbana in Urbana following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Oct. 23, 1940 in Piqua, a daughter of the late Lowell and Jane (Brubaker) Tamplin.
On Nov. 21, 1998, Diane married Herman S. Thompson in Urbana, and he survives in Springfield. She is also survived by her two daughters, Catherine Hance (Chris) Glauner of Belle Center, and Jennifer Chapman (JW) Bennett of Urbana; two sons, Scott (Melissa) McClure of Olathe, Kansas, and John (Rhonda) Hance III of West Liberty; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Joshua, Alexandra, Theron, John IV, Logan, Elizabeth, and Nicholas; a great granddaughter, Rhianna; and a brother, Bradley (Shirley) Tamplin of Piqua.
Diane had worked as a dispatcher for United Telephone-Sprint.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of The Eastern Star, Urbana Quilt Club, Champaign County Cancer Society, Urbana Optimist Club, and the First Christian Church of Urbana.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road in West Liberty, where Pastor Mike Stewart will officiate a funeral at 5 p.m. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio at a later date.
