Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Ricki Downing, 21, of Bellefontaine, was westbound in the 3000 block of east S.R. 47 when her vehicle traveled left of center and into the path of an eastbound sport utility vehicle driven by Ronald Gebby, 76, of Sidney.
Impact from the collision caused the Downing vehicle to spin around before coming to rest facing east in the westbound lanes.
The Gebby SUV continued off the right side of the road before coming to a stop in a bean field.
Downing was trapped in the vehicle and had to be manually extracted by first responders. She was transported by Rushcreek EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for minor injuries.
Injuries to Gebby were reported as minor. He was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. Damage was disabling, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
That stretch of S.R. 47 was closed for over an hour Tuesday. A citation against Downing is pending, deputies report.
