Renewal forms and applications for the current agricultural use value programs have been mailed out and are available online at the Logan County Auditor Office’s website at www.co.logan.oh.us.
There is a forms link on the page to access the renewal form and the application pages, Auditor Jack Reser said.
CAUV ensures qualified agricultural-producing properties of 10 acres or more with a minimum income of $2,500 a year are appraised based on production rates set by the state.
A one-time $25 application is required as are yearly renewals.
Ohio lawmakers made significant changes with the 2017 budget on how land used exclusively for conservation practices is valued under the CAUV program.
Such land values will now be set at the lowest value on the soil value table. For 2019, that value is $230 an acre.
To lock in this value on land used exclusively for conservation practices, landowners must submit all required documentation by Monday, March 4.
Required documentation is:
• an updated 2019 CAUV new or renewal application;
• a copy of the conservation contract with a government agency;
• a detailed map showing the exact area on each parcel under contract and/or used exclusively for conservation practices; and
• Maintenance of the conversation practice for a minimum of three years to benefit from the additional savings.
Landowners will be required to include and verify the conservation acres on subsequent annual renewal applications.
