A man was hospitalized about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday following a rear-end collision on U.S. Route 33 at Township Road 221.
Deputies report Marcus K. Junod, 59, of 424 N. Main St., was stopped in traffic on eastbound U.S. Route 33 when his sport-utility vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Zackary E. Smith, 24, of 7308 Indian Meadows Blvd., Huntsville.
Mr. Junod was transported by Huntsville Fire and EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for possible injuries.
Mr. Smith did not report any injuries. He was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
Both motorists were wearing their seat belts, and both vehicles were heavily damaged.
Summons issued for domestic violence
A DeGraff man was charged with domestic violence Friday evening following an altercation with his spouse.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office issued a summons for domestic violence to James Sheriff Jr., 68, of 9276 W. State Route 47, after he reportedly struck his wife with a dust pan during an argument, and that she was having difficulty breathing as a result of the altercation.
Red marks reportedly were observed around the neck and throat area of Deborah Sheriff, 67. Deputies were told Mrs. Sheriff had been standing behind her husband when he struck her.
Riverside EMS responded and checked out Mrs. Sheriff, who did not require transport.
