Brian K. Rhyan, 28, at large, was charged Wednesday with receiving stolen property after he was stopped while driving a stolen car on Main Street north of U.S. Route 33 around 4:20 p.m.
The car was stolen from Gillis Woolum of Lakeview and it was returned to him by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Rhyan was in the car with Ashley L. Morrison.
Officers found a hypodermic needle and a burnt spoon which Rhyan admitted were his.
Morrison told officers Rhyan got the vehicle from a named male suspect. Rhyan confirmed he paid the suspect $20 to use the car which was to be returned to the suspect at 6 p.m. that day.
Driver faces OVI charge
Matthew J. Berry, 38, of Dublin, was charged Tuesday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for an improper turn, failure to signal and having an open container of alcohol.
He was observed driving from Mary Rutan Hospital around 8:25 p.m. and failed to stop while turning from Irving Avenue onto northbound Madriver Street.
While turning from Madriver onto eastbound Rush Avenue, Berry failed to use a turn signal and crossed over two lanes.
He was stopped at Dowell Avenue and Main Street. An officer detected an odor of alcohol while talking with him.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by alcohol. Two open bottles of vodka were found in his vehicle and both were within reach of the driver’s seat.
Berry submitted a breath sample of 0.25. He was released to a sober friend.
