A Rushsylvania man was transported to an area hospital Friday afternoon after his vehicle crashed into a creek along U.S. Route 33 near Honda Parkway.
Dwight Greenbaum, 48, of Rushsylvania, was driving a westbound sport utility vehicle about 2:40 p.m. on U.S. 33 when he fell asleep, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report. The SUV then went off the left side of the road, overturned and traveled down an embankment before coming to rest in the creek.
A trailer hitch from the Greenbaum vehicle came loose during crash and struck an eastbound car on U.S. 33 operated by Diallo Butler, 43, of West Liberty.
Mr. Greenbaum, who had to be mechanically extricated from the SUV, was taken by Allen Township EMS to Memorial Hospital in Marysville. He reported that he was not injured at the hospital.
Mr. Butler did not report any injuries.
The SUV and car each sustained disabling damage.
Mr. Greenbaum was cited for failure to control.
