Mona Elaine Kean, 65, of Quincy, passed away at 8:39 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 16, 1955, a daughter of the late Acie and Edith Viola (Strong) Hawkins.
On November 23, 1973, Mona married Randy Ray Kean in Newport, Kentucky and he survives, along with their three children, Chad (Heather) Kean and Gabe (Keri Jo) Kean, both of DeGraff, and Myra (Dave) Kennedy of Sidney; four grandchildren, Jesse Kean, Aaron Kean, Anika Kean, and Dakota Kennedy; two sisters, Rhonda (Charles) Hawkins-Shively of Texas and Lacie Jo Hawkins of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mona had worked at Fawcett’s IGA in DeGraff and Hi-Grade Handy Mart in Quincy. She was a former firefighter for the Quincy Fire Department for over 34 years, where she had served as treasurer. In her leisure time, Mona enjoyed making crafts.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff. Pastor Harold Liess will officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Quincy.
