Opaline Watkins, 91, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2021, in Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.
She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, on March 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Archie and Eva (Williams) Trimble.
She married Walter “Ray” Watkins I on February 2, 1952 in Urbana and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her son, Walter “Bud” Watkins II, a brother Wade Trimble, and sisters Anna Lee Rutan and Dorothy L. Stidham.
Opaline was a homemaker and member of Marysville Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Church was a big part of her life; Opaline loved her church and Sunday school class.
Opaline is survived by a son Paul W. Smith of Belle Center, six grandchildren: Sherry Stettler, Jon (Rebekah) Watkins, Andrew (Emily) Watkins, Daniel (Sara) Watkins, David (Kathleen) Smith and Steve (Sara) Smith; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Robert (Nancy) Trimble of Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Watkins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her grandson, Jonathan Watkins will officiate a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
