Huntsville ALA selects Little Miss Poppy
Addison Booher, daughter of Cody and Stephanie Booher is serving as Little Miss Poppy for Charles Collins Post 381 American Legion Auxiliary.

Her great-grandfathers, marion sherer, Earnest Junior Walden and eugene Edward Kozak served in the Korean conflict and she has several uncles, aunts and cousins who served or are currently serving in the miliary.

Poppy queen, king to represent VFW
Caden Allen, 3, and Makinnley Allen, 6, children of Jonathan and Sara Allen of West Mansfield, have been selected by VFW Post 1080 to serve as Poppy king and queen, respectively, for this year’s Bellefontaine Memorial Day parade.

• Huntsville — noon Sunday, May 27, Huntsville Presbyterian Church; speaker, Missy Mefford, a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1996-1999 as a track vehicle mechanic and current co-principal of Indian Lake Middle School; wreath presentation by Robert A. Coffman Jr., retired U.S. Marine Corps staff sergeant and commander of American Legion Charles Collins Post 381.
• West Mansfield — 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, West Mansfield Conservation Clubhouse; Shelley speaker; Little Miss Poppy Macie Pugh, daughter of Cody Pugh and Megan Neal, leads pledge of allegiance. Luke Poppe, music; services follow in south, east and north cemeteries.
• East Liberty — 10 a.m. Monday, May 28; Janet Akey Blank, speaker; Hometown Hero recognition, Tyler Hall; Benjamin Logan High School band; invocation and benediction, Dr. Jason Robson; firing squad, Wood-Rosebrook American Legion Post.
• Rushsylvania — 9 a.m. Monday, May 28, village park, sponsored by the Rushsylvania Lions Club; Vic Dodds, U.S. Navy veteran, speaker; Benjamin Logan Middle School Band performs; honor guard performs a 21- gun salute.
• DeGraff-Quincy — 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, parade from Miami Valley American Legion Post 652, DeGraff, to Greenwood Union Cemetery, DeGraff; flag folding ceremony with step-by-step narration; veterans invited to ride a wagon; ceremony moves to Quincy Fairview Cemetery following; 11:30 a.m. fish fry, DeGraff American Legion, cost is by donation.
• Bellefontaine — 9 a.m. Monday, May 28, parade from Harold Kerr American Legion Post 173, 120 Colton Ave., to Bellefontaine Cemetery, with wreaths placed at stops at Family Court Building and Vietnam Memorial; Art Kemp, World War II Air Force veteran, grand marshal; Kent Long, American Legion District 2 commander, cemetery speaker.
• West Liberty — Parade, 2 p.m. Monday, May 28; forms at 1:30 p.m. at former high school building on west Columbus Street, continues to Detroit Street, with ceremony in front of the firehouse, featured speaker: Sgt. John Godwin from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a Gulf War era veteran, West-Liberty Salem High School marching band to perform; parade continues north on Detroit Street to Fairview Cemetery for military honors.
• Zane Township — 78th annual parade moves at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, from county roads 152 and 153 in Middleburg to cemetery; prizes for best costume, best decorated bike, ATV, garden tractor or go-cart, and float; Zane Township veterans invited to ride on a float; guest speaker, Dr. Jason E. Robson.
• Belle Center — 10:30 a.m. parade, Monday, May 28, starts at Memorial Building and proceeds to the cemetery, with speaker Logan County Sheriff Randall Dodds; hosted by Willard Stout American Legion Post 266.
