Indian Lake’s wrestling team delivered a fourth-place finish at the Mt. Vernon Bad Apple Brawl to begin the season Saturday.
The Lakers placed six wrestlers with one champion and two other finalists to take fourth out of 12 teams with 274 points.
Dublin Coffman ran away with the meet title after scoring 564 points. Gahanna Lincoln was runner-up with 322 points and host Mt. Vernon was third (280).
“We didn’t have a great day, but it wasn’t terrible either” said IL head coach Ryan Dickson. “We had an OK start and it was a decent day for us. Dublin Coffman has a tough team and dominated a lot of teams.”
Cole Mefford powered Indian Lake by winning the 220-pound weight class. He won by default in the finals over St. Charles’ Stephen Cottrill.
