Bellefontaine and Benjamin Logan teams opened the wrestling season by competing at the Sidney Jim McCracken Invitational on Saturday.
The Chiefs got off to a solid start by placing fifth out of 20 teams. BHS had nine placers.
The Raiders finished 14th and had three placers.
“We were really pleased with how our guys performed,” said BHS head coach Aaron LaBatt. “This was a real solid tournament with some high-end teams and wrestlers. We found plenty of things to work on, but overall we liked the effort and attitude we saw from our guys.”
“Overall, we wrestled very well for our first outing,” said BL head coach Kyle Seeley. “We filled 10 weight class with five being freshmen. This was their first taste of varsity competition and we saw some great things from those freshman.”
