Max L. Butts, 77, of St. Paris, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Monday July 30, 2018, in Springfield.
Born Jan. 15, 1941, in Rosewood, he was a son of the late John Durward and Ethel Pauline Buroker Butts
He married Pamela Adele Draper on Dec. 22, 1970, and she survives in St. Paris.
He is also survived by three children, Kim Butts of Rosewood, Chris Butts of Columbus and Jay (Angela) Butts of Eaton; two stepchildren, Roxie (Tim) Maloney of Conover and Rick (Julie) Brewer of Troy; two grandchildren, Max and Addison Butts of Eaton; five stepgrandchildren, Brandon (Jenni) Park and Ryan Brewer, both of Sidney, Jayme Park of Columbus, Jade Maloney of Conover and Aaron (Brandon Cox) Brewer of Bucyrus; one brother, Floyd (Freda Roesser) Butts of Rosewood; a sister, Janet Partington of Sidney; mother-in-law, Ann Shaffer of St. Paris; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Bette Lattimer and Jeanette Heath; stepmother, Lodema Butts; and sister in law, Marilyn Butts
Max was a 1959 graduate of Rosewood High School. He retired from DAB Industries in Bellefontaine after 50 years.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, where the funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Burial follows in Upper Honey Creek Cemetery.
In honor of Max and his love of The Ohio State Buckeyes, everyone is asked to wear OSU attire.
