Marion Albert Penhorwood, 95, of Cable, passed away Tuesday morning, May 25, 2021, at Brookdale Nursing Home, Marysville.
Marion was born in York Township, Union County, on January 9, 1926, to the late Sherman D. and Martha (McBeath) Penhorwood. He married Betty Kay Smith on July 3, 1944, and she preceded him in death on May 27, 1996. Marion was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Cramer, brothers Bernice, Clarence, Lonnie, Maynard, and Lawrence Penhorwood, and a great-grandchild.
Marion is survived by his children: Charles (Shirley) Penhorwood of North Lewisburg, Sherry Ann Cooper of Bellefontaine, Nick (Becky) Penhorwood of Zanesfield, Dennis (Diane) Penhorwood of Cable, Dexter P. (Gwen) Penhorwood of Raymond, and Judith K. Foughty of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; a brother John (Esther) Penhorwood of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marion was a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II as a Military Policeman in Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for several years at Nestle’s in Marysville. He moved to Wisconsin in 1971 and worked as an electrician at Purity Cheese in Mayville, WI, for many years. Marion went on several mission trips, and helped build churches in Haiti and South America. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and gardening.
Friends may call on Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 9am – 10:30am at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty. Pastor Jason Manns will officiate a graveside service at 11:30am at York Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a missions program at your local church.
