John C. Porter, Jr., 69, of Bellefontaine passed away at 6:16am on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Bellefontaine on May 1, 1952, the son of the late John C. “Jack” Porter and Lois (Smith) Porter Stapleton.
On May 28, 1982 he married the former Sandra “Sandy” (Robison) Porter and she survives in Bellefontaine.
He is also survived by children: John (Brandi) Porter III of Bellefontaine, Chad (Wendie) Porter of Bellefontaine, Shala Vickery of Baton Rouge, LA, Erin Ratleff of Bellefontaine, Josh (Brittanny) Porter of Bellefontaine, 17 grandchildren:, Stefan, Paige, Alexis, Austin, Ella, Nix, Kameron, Hunter, Casey (Haley), Madison (Kaegan), Brianna, Garret, Tyler, Xavier, Ahriya, Josalyn and Sophia, his siblings: Dianna Sheeley of Bellefontaine, Patti (Tommy) Wipf of Silverton, CO, Beverly Butterfield of Huntsville, Kim (Don) Murtha of Irving, TX, Karen (Bob) Davis of Lakeview, and Arthur “Bud” (Heather) Stapleton of Urbana, two brothers-in-law, J.D. Napier and Wally Munz both of Bellefontaine, numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Jerry Hobart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sue & Phil Ball, Connie Napier, Lois “Toots” Munz, and Tom Sheeley.
John worked as a truck driver for much of his career. He enjoyed NASCAR, camping, Ohio State Buckeye football and watching old Westerns on TV.
Phil Ball, his nephew, will officiate a funeral service on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 5 to 7pm. Burial will be at a later date in Huntsville Cemetery.
