Raun D. Wells, 32, of 319 Washington Ave., was charged today with theft after he walked out of Speedway, 329 S. Main St., with nearly $17 in candy and food merchandise around 12:20 a.m.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department was at the station conducting a traffic stop when he observed a store clerk approach the suspect.
The suspect handed over items concealed in his clothing.
Other officers arrived and the suspect told them he forgot his wallet and stole the items to combat his low blood sugar.
Officers suggested calling a squad for the suspect but he declined the offer.
• Adair L. Robinson, 29, of 827 W. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 6, was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana and was cited for speeding, disregarding a traffic control device and not using a safety belt in a 6:05 p.m. traffic stop.
A passenger, Isaiah Robinson, 39, of North Lewisburg, was cited for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Officers first observed the Robinson sport utility vehicle roll past a paint stop bar on the road pavement at Elm Street and Sandusky Avenue. The driver then turned westbound on Sandusky and sped up to 44 mph.
A small amount marijuana was recovered from the driver’s shirt pocket and a open can of beer was found on the passenger side floor board.
Handguns, cash taken from residence
George Brown, 500 Gunntown Road, Apt. D3, reported Thursday a named female suspect stole two .40-caliber semi-automatic handguns, a video game system and cash from his residence overnight.
