William S. Coleman, 54, at large, was charged Tuesday with criminal trespassing and served warrants for failure to appear on two counts of felony possession of drugs.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to 329 Lawrence St. after the property owner filed a trespassing complaint. Teresa L. Cunningham of
Bellefontaine reported Coleman had been told multiple times to move his camper off the property but he refused.
At 9:20 p.m., Coleman returned to the camper and was apprehended at the scene.
Two other individuals were at the camper and complied with directions to remove their property from the trailer.
Coleman gave Steve Angel permission to remove the trailer from the property.
Motorist charged with OVI
Taylor Rich, 28, of Cumberland, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He also was issued traffic citations for turning and marked lanes violations.
An officer on patrol observed her back a sport utility vehicle from a parking space along the east side of the 200 block of south Main Street. She the drove north going over the double yellow line and then over a white left-turn lane line before turning wide onto eastbound Chillicothe Avenue. The officer observed her drive over the double yellow line until she turned southbound in an alley. A traffic stop was initiated after she stopped the SUV in the middle of the alley, started to back up, stopped again and began driving forward.
The officer detected an odor of alcohol talking with the motorist and conducted field sobriety tests. The tests indicated she was under the influence of alcohol and her breathalyzer sample was 0.138.
She was released to a sober driver.
Motorists cited in crashes
James D. Harrison, 63, of Springfield, was issued a traffic citation for failing to follow requirements for towing after a single-vehicle crash at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday on Main Street near Grove Avenue.
He was driving a semi-tractor en route to deliver it to a customer. His personal sport utility vehicle was in tow behind the northbound semi. The hitch assembly failed allowing the SUV with attached tow bar to free wheel off the right side of the road, over a curb and into a boulevard.
The tow bar and remaining portion of the hitch dug into the ground and struck an iron water cover. The nose of the SUV was thrown into the air just before it hit and snapped off a utility pole. The SUV continued another 30 feet north of the damaged pole.
In all, the SUV rolled more than 150 feet after separating from the semi. Officers determined the hitch assembly was not properly installed and there were no safety chains or cables
Damage was heavy to the SUV.
• Aaron P. McGuire, 41, of Roundhead, was cited for failure to yield while turning left after a two-vehicle crash at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday in front of Love’s Truck Stop on State Route 540.
He turned his eastbound pickup truck into the path of a westbound car operated by Brett M. Aler, 26, of Columbus. McGuire’s view was obstructed by an eastbound tractor-trailer waiting to turn into the truck stop.
Damage was heavy to the vehicles.
