Shawn M. Hendricks, 45, of Broadway, Ohio, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident about 3:30 a.m. Thursday at Kamp-A-Lott, 1888 S. County Road 25, Bellefontaine.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the campground on a domestic violence report, with dispatchers noting that they could hear a man yelling in the background of the 911 open line.
When deputies arrived at the camp site, they said the defendant was argumentative with deputies and would not listen to their instructions. Deputies attempted to detain Hendricks during their investigation, but he reportedly began yelling at deputies and initially resisted their attempts to place him in handcuffs. He continued kicking and yelling obscenities once he was in handcuffs, deputies said.
Deputies spoke with Hendricks’ estranged girlfriend, who said he had come to the residence uninvited that night after she had asked him to stay away. She reported that he assaulted her by pulling her hair, punching her in the back of the head and slamming her into the bed. She said she tried to kick him away from her, but he allegedly began spitting at her and hitting her.
Deputies said she sustained several knots to the back of her head and redness to her arms. She declined medical treatment.
The defendant was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
