SMOTHERMAN |
A Lakeview man who had to be flown from the scene of a crash after fleeing police was sentenced to prison this week in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Kodi Smotherman, 25, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for failure to comply with the order of a police officer and was sentenced to a mandatory three days in the Logan County Jail, a six month driver’s license suspension and ordered to pay a $375 fine, court costs and attorney fees for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
He was arrested Oct. 25 after leading officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department on a chase through the city. Officers attempted to stop him after seeing his vehicle strike a construction cone in the 1000 block of south Main Street. He fled northwest and eventually reached reported speeds in excess of 100 mph before crashing on Township Road 56.
He was taken by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for injuries sustained in the crash.
