Roger E. Stiles Jr., 34, of 601 S. Detroit St., was charged Tuesday with felony domestic violence.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were informed by Lora Stiles that the suspect punched her in the head.
He left the residence and was located around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of south Main Street and arrested on a probation violation.
Records show he has been charged four times with domestic abuse since 2004 with two of the cases dismissed.
Officers later learned the wife may have started the physical altercation, but the witness would not complete a statement.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Motorist lodged for crack pipe

Ashley N. Eley, 31, of 500 E. Lake Ave., was charged Tuesday with possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was stopped around 11:25 p.m. after an officer observed her fail to stop completely for a stop sign at Auburn Avenue and Plumvalley Street.
Officers noted suspicious behavior of the driver and asked to search the vehicle. Eley agreed and a pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine was found under the passenger seat.
Both she and her passenger denied ownership of the pipe. She denied ever seeing such a pipe before.
She was lodged in jail where she admitted to a corrections officers that she would not pass a drug screen and that she had smoked crack cocaine on Monday.
Woman lodged for second time in two days

Sigourney L. Weaver, 29, of rural West Liberty, was arrested for the second time in two days for an alcohol offense.
She was arrested Monday at Pizza Hut, 609 S. Main St., around 7:10 p.m. for public intoxication.
Tuesday she was arrested for public intoxication at Tumbleweed, 2241 S. Main St., around 4:20 p.m.
Store employees reported she was drunk and began causing a disturbance. She stepped out as an officer arrived, but returned through another door when the officer went outside to look for her.
She was found at the bar, nodding off and drooling.
The officer arrested her and took her to jail, from which she had been released three hours prior.
