Jay A. Workman, 33, of 217 Evansville St., Apt. 1, was arrested Sunday after the Bellefontaine Police Department’s Special Response Team served warrants for menacing and domestic violence around 8:10 p.m.
The warrants were issued after his sister provided multiple phone messages from the suspect threatening her, her family and their dad. He also threatened to kill a dog in his care.
Workman came out of the residence as the SRT deployed and was taken into custody without incident. A dog was recovered and turned over to his sister for care.
A neighbor told officers the suspect routinely beats the dog.
Workman was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Bicyclist injured in hit-skip
Dawn C. Wiltz, 55, of Bellefontaine, was injured Monday when a car struck her while she was riding a bicycle, officers report.
She told them she was southbound on Park Street approaching Chillicothe Avenue around 3:15 p.m. when she was hit from behind and knocked to the pavement.
The white male operating the black car stopped, got out of the vehicle and spoke with her briefly. He then returned to the car and drove off.
A Robinaugh squad transported Wiltz to Mary Rutan Hospital after she complained of injuries to her left side ribs, left hand, left arm and left shoulder.
Officers took photographs of her injuries and damages to her bicycle.
• Officers are investigating a hit-skip crash that occurred after 8 p.m. Sunday.
A sport utility vehicle registered to Kelly Yule, 337 E. Chillicothe Ave., was reportedly struck on the passenger side by a white vehicle while the SUV was parked behind her nephew’s 113 Powers St. residence.
