Driver Xavier Scherer, 21, and his passenger, John Messer, 25, both of Bellefontaine, each were charged with a felony count of possession of drugs as a result of a traffic stop Saturday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol on U.S. Route 33 east of Russells Point about 8:05 p.m. observed a gray Toyota traveling the roadway with an excessively loud exhaust.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. While speaking with Scherer, officers observed the oder of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Messer produced a black wallet and located inside the wallet was 15 1/2 hits of acid. He advised officers the wallet did not belong to him and said it belonged to Scherer.
Scherer told officers the wallet was his but the drugs belonged to Messer and the wallet was found on Messer.
Both men were arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
