The Mad River valley area of Monroe Township in Logan County has become just the third community in Ohio to achieve national FireWise USA.
The designation came in June and the township and West Liberty Fire Department will mark the achievement at 6:30 p.m. July 30 at the County Road 29 bridge just off County Road 5. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Monroe Township hall in Pickrelltown.
The FireWise USA program is a community risk reduction effort of the National Fire Protection Association and the Ohio Division of Forestry.
