Lynn Blythe Aten “The Park Lady”, 70, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, while surrounded by her family.
Lynn was born July 13, 1947, to the late Clarence “Corky” and Deborah (Nelson) Davis. She married Jeffery L. Aten on Feb. 27, 1965, in Rock Island, Ill.
After an award-winning career in sales in Illinois, Lynn later moved to Bellefontaine where she was employed by Bellefontaine city parks and school district where she refocused her talents and devoted a great deal of her life to the children of the Bellefontaine area. While working for the parks and schools, she had the honor of gaining the prestigious title “The Park Lady” while receiving the respect of the entire community.
Over the years Lynn’s journey and passions included chasing and collecting treasures such as flags, stamping, crafting, Christmas villages, chalk, bubbles or anything she thought the children could benefit from; while fueling her habit for going to garage sales where she not only enjoyed the shopping but meeting and talking with people. Above all Lynn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff L. Aten; sons, Shane Aten of Youngstown, Joshua L. (Nicole) Aten of Bellefontaine, Brady Aten of Roundhead; and grandson, Carter Aten of Bellefontaine. Lynn leaves behind a lifetime of mentoring of children in the parks and schools.
She is preceeded in death by a brother, Daniel Davis.
A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Gazebo at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, West Liberty, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jeffery L. Aten for the memorial that will be placed in Harmon Park in memory of “The Park Lady.”
