Logan County Commissioners rolled out their newest economic development tool amid criticism that it duplicates efforts already under way.
The new Logan County Port Authority is intended to attract new businesses or promote expansions by offering sales tax breaks on major construction projects.
The problem, according to two of the county’s chief economic development officials, is that the city already has a similar mechanism in place — the Bellefontaine Finance and Development Authority — and repeated efforts were made to get the county on board with that body.
