Road closure announced
Crews from the Logan County Highway Department will close County Road 153 for culvert work between County Road 5 and State Route 292, with work occurring Tuesday, June 14, through Thursday, June 23, weather permitting.
The roadway will be closed to all traffic during that time.
Local work group meets at SWCD/NRCS office
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Logan Soil and Water Conservation District announce that a local work group meeting is planned for 4 p.m. June 21, at the Logan SWCD/NRCS office, 324 County Road 11, Bellefontaine, to gather local input for fiscal year 2017.
USDA-NRCS administers the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, a federal program that provides technical and financial assistance to land users to address natural resource concerns.
The local work group was established by the 2002 Farm Bill as a group to provide recommendations to USDA-NRCS on local natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs.
USDA-NRCS works with landowners through conservation planning and assistance designed to benefit the soil, water, air, plants and animals that result in productive lands and healthy ecosystems.
The mission of Ohio NRCS is to help Ohioans protect their land and our environment.
The mission of Logan Soil and Water Conservation District is to promote responsible land use decisions for the conservation, protection and improvement of soil and water resources by providing information assistance through effective partnering, technical guidance and education.
Knowlton Library announces summer programs
The Knowlton Library, 220 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, will offer the following summer programs through July 28:
• Mondays, June 13-July 18 — Writers Rule Workshop for grades 5-8, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
• Tuesdays, June 7-July 26 — Teen Nerf Wars for grades 6-12, 3:30 to 5 p.m.
• Wednesdays, June 15, 22, 29 — Babies & Toddlers Summer Reading Program, 10:30 to 11 a.m.; Preschoolers Summer Reading Program for ages 3-5, 11 to 11:30 a.m.
• Tuesdays or Wednesdays — Kindergarten and First-Grade Summer Reading Program, 1 to 2 p.m.; Second and Third-Grade Summer Reading Program, 3 to 4 p.m.
• Thursdays, June 9-July 28 — Teen Fantastic Beasts for grades 6-12, 3:30 to 5 p.m.
• Thursdays, June 16-July 28 — Fourth-, Fifth-, Sixth-Grade Summer Reading Program, 1 to 2 p.m.
• Now-Thursday, June 30 — OverDrive Summer Read (free ebooks for children and teens).
• Thursday, June 23-Thursday, July 7 — OverDrive BIG Library Read.
