Relay Night at Shady Bowl Speedway returns
Relay For Life Night at Shady Bowl Speedway is planned for Saturday, June 11, at the 9872 Flowing Well Road, DeGraff, facility.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m., with grandstands open at 4 p.m., and racing at 7 p.m.
The cost is $13 for adults, $5 for children and age 11 and younger are admitted free. A portion of gate receipts from the evening will be donated to Logan County Relay For Life. T-shirts and other fundraising items also will be sold at the track.
The Shady Bowl event also honors the memory of racer Neal Sceva, who passed away June 6, 1985, following a battle with cancer. He was a familiar face at the DeGraff area track, with more than 100 wins at that location, and was the winner of the 1954 Ohio NASCAR Championship.
Relay For Life festivities slated for June 17
The 2016 Logan County Relay For Life is planned for 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 17, at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.
The opening ceremony begins at 6 p.m. at the stage, followed by the survivor lap at 6:15 p.m. and then the survivor reception at the infield tents. Team fundraising and activities run from 6:15 to 9 p.m. at each of the team campsites around the track. A silent auction at the infield tents also takes place during this time, along with a bounce house, car smash, Grandpa’s Train and other activities for youths.
The luminaria ceremony begins at 9 p.m., and the survivor bingo and silent auction winners announced immediately afterward at the stage.
All fundraising and activities resume after the luminaria ceremony, and the closing ceremony is slated for 11:45 p.m. New and returning teams can sign up online at www.relayforlife.org/logancounty
