Concert band performs June 19
The West Central Ohio Community Concert Band presents “Dancing in Brown Park” at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Brown Park, located at the corner of east Sandusky Avenue and Park Street.
The concert will feature music for dancing, including polka, disco, mambo, waltz, tango, rag, ballet and hoe down. There will also be a drawing for some treats. Take a lawn chair or blanket.
The 55-member all-volunteer band, under the director of William Barrett, is in its 25th season.
Tree inventory set to begin
Starting in mid-June and running through the fall, volunteers of the Bellefontaine Shade Tree Commission, the tree steward program, Logan County Master Gardeners and others will conduct a citywide tree inventory.
The goal is to collect data regarding the number, diversity, size, location and condition of trees in the city’s urban forest.

Citizen Corps plans picnic for June 23
The Logan County Citizen Corps hosts a 10-Minute Bug Out and Picnic from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at Mary Rutan Park.
The topic for discussion will include the 10-minute bug out debriefing and fire suppression.
In addition, the Logan County Emergency Management Agency executive policy committee meets in regular session at 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Logan County EMA office.
Ridgemont plans early dismissal for Tuesday
Ridgemont Schools will dismiss students one hour early for the last day of school, Tuesday, June 7.
Students also will participate in field day Tuesday at the Ridgeway building, and are asked to pack a lunch.
Kirkmont plans for Trails Day
Kirkmont Center, 6946 County Road 10, Zanesfield, plans to Go Back to Basics from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in connection with the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day. Creek Stewart of Willow Haven Outdoors, host of The Weather Channel’s Fat Guys in the Woods, will be on site all day and will lead hands-on presentations twice. The day is designed for all ages and includes lunch and a variety of activities.

Master gardeners host mini-workshop
The Logan County Master Gardeners host a mini-workshop at the community garden along Troy Road between west Sandusky and Garfield avenues.
“Garden Structures and Vertical Gardening,” is at 10 a.m. and repeated at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7.

Congressional candidate to address Democrats
The Logan County Democratic Party hosts Janet Garrett, candidate for U.S. Congress from the 4th District, for a spring dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Café 212, 212 E. Columbus Ave.
The Oberlin Democrat and retired schoolteacher is looking to unseat incumbent Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, in the November general election.
Tickets cost $20 and 50/50 and raffle tickets will also be available.
