Lakeview announces meeting changes
The village of Lakeview will be changing their regularly scheduled May and June meetings from the first and third Mondays to 7:30 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays, May 3, May 17, June 7 and June 21.
CSX plans crossing closures for work
Crews from CSX Railroad will perform repairs to the rail crossings in Quincy at Miami Street between Railroad and New streets, with crossing closure scheduled from 7 a.m. Monday, May 2, through Thursday, May 5.
CSX will close the rail crossing on County Road 4 between State Route 706 and County Road 70 for work from 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, through Friday, May 6.
Plan alternate routes to avoid these areas that will be closed to all traffic for the duration of work. The CSX contact for these projects is Chris Edwards, (912) 387-5523.
Shine FM banquet set
The Bellefontaine First Church of God hosts the Shine FM banquet at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 7, featuring Brandon Heath, a contemporary Christian musician from Nashville, Tenn.
Tickets are $25 per person at the church and include dinner.
Healthy Kids Day planned for Saturday
The Hilliker Y hosts a Healthy Kids Day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the 300 Sloan Blvd. facility, rain or shine.
Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of children. The event is free and open to the community.
Healthy activities, games and food will be available, including a petting zoo, kids yoga, a Belle Bounce obstacle course, caricature drawings, Yogi Bear, a yogurt bar and participation from many local organizations and businesses. There will also be prize drawings for two bicycles with helmets.
Bike rodeo to return to Russells Point
Rite Aid and the Russells Point Police Department will host the village’s annual bicycle safety rodeo from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Russells Point Municipal Building, 433 State Route 708.
Youth bicycle helmets donated by Mary Rutan Hospital will be distributed and children can see fire trucks and police cars, along with face-painting, clowns, food and other activities. The Top of Ohio Pet Shelter will also have dogs available for adoption.
Safety services to be honored at museum
The Logan County History Center will salute the county’s law enforcement, fire and EMS workers at an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the 521 E. Columbus Ave. museum.
Exhibits, artifacts and photographs throughout the museum will focus on law enforcement and fire history in Logan County. Vehicles and equipment, including a patrol car, fire truck and ambulance, will also be on display. Admission is by donation.
KidFest slated for Saturday
Logan County Children’s Services hosts its annual KidFest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Bellefontaine High School.
‘Girls Night Out’ returns Friday
The annual “Girls Night Out: A Celebration of Women’s Health” is slated for 5 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Bellefontaine First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave.
The evening begins with women’s education, health screenings and pampering. A dinner made with Rothschild Farm recipes is served at 6 p.m. “Six Secrets to Women’s Health” will be explored by a panel of health experts, and several local women will be recognized for their personal health accomplishments.
Tickets are $12 per person or for $10 each for a table of six, and must be purchased in advance at Logan Acres Senior Community or the Mary Rutan Hospital gift shop. Call 599-7005 for more information.
Poetry show benefits Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
“I’m Afraid I’ll Stutter: A Night of Storytelling, Poetry and Music” is presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Holland Theatre, to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The lineup includes writers Betsy Clark from Columbus and Neil Hilborn from St. Paul, Minn., during the National Poetry Month event, with a special solo performance by David Mayfield of the David Mayfield Parade.
The show is hosted by Bryant T. Dill of West Mansfield, the owner and editor of Some Weird Sin literary magazine, and Firehouse Pizza and Subs. Tickets are $10 each, and will be available online at www.thehollandtheatre.org.
Logan County Walk For Life is Saturday
The New Path Pregnancy Resources Center host a Logan County Walk For Life at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Logan County Fairground.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and walkers may pre-register at www.newpathprc.com.
The non-profit organization also hosts a Union County Walk for Life at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at 805 W. Sixth St., Marysville.
