McCALL |
Edgar McCall, 51, of Belle Center, was arrested drunk driving after another motorist reported the allegedly intoxicated driver just before 7 p.m. Sunday on County Road 39 near New Richland.
A call to 911 informed dispatchers the suspect had been encountered with his car idling in the middle of C.R. 39.
The witness reported initially the suspect had returned to his vehicle and drove away, but by the time deputies made contact with McCall, his car again was sitting in the middle of the roadway.
He told deputies the battery had died on his car.
An open container of alcohol was identified in the vehicle, and the suspect failed a series of field sobriety tests, deputies report.
A search of the suspect’s person also revealed suspected Suboxone, for which the suspect conceded he had no prescription.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, possession of drugs, open container and driving left-of-center and was lodged in Logan County Jail.
The suspect’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
