BOSWELL |
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a Lima man with a history of drug charges was arrested for drug trafficking Saturday after marijuana packaged for sale and other drug abuse items were located in his vehicle.
Carl D. Boswell, 26, was lodged in the Logan County Jail on the felony charge after the 3:20 p.m. traffic stop in the area of U.S. Route 33 and State Route 274.
Deputies who were on patrol in the area observed his vehicle following another vehicle too closely, and initiated the traffic stop.
Boswell reportedly did not have a valid driver’s license and was under numerous non-compliance driving suspensions. He told deputies that he was attempting to drive to Columbus to help his mother. Deputies offered the defendant the chance to call his mother on the phone, but he refused the offer.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered a number of items in the trunk area, including a duffel bag that contained a number of small baggies each packaged with marijuana. Deputies said the way the smaller baggies were packaged and rolled was consistent with someone preparing illegal drugs for sale. (A photo appears in Monday’s Examiner)
