Leo Albert Mitchell, 85, of De Graff, passed away Wednesday Sept. 7, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Huntsville, a son of the late William Milton and Monna Lucille Dachenbach Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell proudly served in the United States Military during the Korean War.
He was a lifetime dairy farmer and retired from Navistar in 1992. He was also a member of the De Graff Methodist Church for seven years.
On Dec. 4, 1953, he married Wava Josephine Swaney and she survives, along with daughters, Nancy (Tim) Harman, Diana Mitchell and Paula (Tim) Ingram; son, William “Bill” (Pam) Mitchell; grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Harman, Bethany Anne Harman, Christopher Leo Harman, Brady (Davey) Turner, Audrey Anne Ingram and Jacob Walter Ingram; great-grandchildren, Keith Turner, Kayla Harman and Alhana Harman; sister-in-law, Bernie Mitchell; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by sisters, Ellen Louise (Lawrence) Cordrey, Eloise Willoby Mitchell; and brothers, George Milton Mitchell and Dale William Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell enjoyed traveling with his wife after retirement, reading, big band music and jigsaw puzzles.
The Rev. Michael Mitchell will officiate a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home & Crematory, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, where visitation is 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
