Marvin “Pete” Burnham, 62, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at his home.
He was born July 20, 1954, a son of the late Joseph Robert Burnham and Marjorie Ferryman Burnham. In 1956, his mother married Clarence Robert “Brownie” Brown, the father who raised him.
He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Danny Burnham and Jim Burnham; Jim’s wife, the former Jeri Bumgardner, and their son, Shawn Burnham; sister, Martha Burnham Schultz; nephew Jeffery Allen Burnham; and brother-in-law Clet Staffan.
Survivors include his sisters, Jeri (Aleta) Brown of London, Connie Staffan and Betty Weaver, both of North Lewisburg, Mona (Bill) Detrick of West Liberty; brothers, Richard “Dick” Burnham of North Lewisburg and Joe “Poncho” (Deb) Brown of Urbana; and Pete’s friends who were like brothers, cousin Mike Brown, Warren Kimball, Bobby Clem, Randy Martin and Jack Hughes.
A 1973 West Liberty-Salem High School graduate, Pete loved to play chess and watch football. He was a Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals fan and enjoyed playing golf.
At his request, his body was donated to Wright State. His family will host a celebration of life from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Mad River Farm Market, 7538 U.S. Route 68, West Liberty.
