Indian Lake was unable to contain Elgin’s bats on Monday as the host Comets beat the Lakers 9-1 in a non-league contest.
The Lakers are 0-1, while Elgin improves to 2-0.
Indian Lake collected seven hits, but managed just the one run.
Elgin piled up 13 hits. Caleb Taylor and Ethan Fulkerson each had two hits for Indian Lake.
Elgin scored four runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead.
The Lakers plated a run in the second inning, but the Comets followed with two more for a 6-1 lead. They added one in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Indian Lake’s defense committed five errors on the day.
Indian Lake is back in action Wednesday at Kenton.
