Indian Lake’s boys basketball team got tripped up in the fourth quarter Friday by host North Union and lost a key Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division game 67-53.
The Wildcats, who are ranked eighth in the latest Division III state poll, stay unbeaten at 16-0 and remain in first place in the Mad River division at 8-0. The Lakers fall to 10-9, 6-2.
North Union grabbed a 20-17 lead after the opening quarter. The Wildcats increased their lead to nine points (35-26) entering halftime.
Indian Lake was two points better in the third quarter to cut the Wildcats’ lead to seven at 46-39.
The Lakers were able to tie the game 48-48 early in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats finished the game on a 19-5 run to pull away.
Austin Parker led the Lakers’ efforts with 16 points, Clay Jacobs had 13 points and Zander Barnes added 10 points.
In junior varsity action, North Union edged Indian Lake 55-51. Logan Evans led the Lakers with 13 points.
