Benjamin Logan’s wrestling team got off to a strong start at their own Raider Invitational on Friday.
The Raiders are leading the tournament and have nine individuals in the championship semifinals.
The team race has Ben Logan currently in first with 88 points, Clinton-Massie is close behind in second with 84.5 points, Tecumseh is third with 67.5 points and Urbana is fourth with 34 points.
Wrestling resumes today at 11 a.m. with the finals expected to start around 4 p.m.
Reaching the championship semifinals for the Raiders were Kade Thomas (106), Owen O’Brien (113), Chris Raterman (132), Joel Abbott (152), Steele Boysel (170), Connor Whitt (182), Noah Clark (195), Matthew Creamer (220) and Cadman Roose (285).
Leading that group with two pins each were Thomas, Raterman, Abbott and Clark. It was also a special night for Abbott, who earned the 100th win of his career with a pin in the quarterfinals.
Teammates Chase LeVan (120), Levi Hunter (126), Henry Myers (138) and Matthew Beikman (145) all reached the championship quarterfinals, but lost and are alive in the consolation rounds. Garrett Henry (160) lost in the first round and is also alive in the consolation rounds.
