West Liberty-Salem’s girls track and field team continued its stranglehold on the Ohio Heritage Conference on Thursday, wrapping up its fifth consecutive league title at Northeastern High School.
The Tigers recorded 144 points to finish in the top spot of the girls meet. Greeneview took the runner-up spot with 113 points and Mechanicsburg was third with 83 points. Triad’s girls came in seventh with 37 points.
“We got off to a rocky start, but once we settled down we were all business,” said WL-Salem girls head coach Ann Vogel. “I can’t say enough about the senior leadership on this team.
“Caylee Karg and Leah Cole really stepped up for us since Morgan Freyhof isn’t 100-percent yet. Morgan would obviously rather be competing, but she is the team’s biggest cheerleader from the sidelines. These three are truly selfless leaders who are dedicated to their team.
