Indian Lake used a balanced hitting attack and strong pitching to cruise to a 9-1 win over host North Union on Wednesday.
The Lakers are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the CBC. The Wildcats fall to 1-3, 0-2. Indian Lake scored three runs in the third inning for a 3-0 lead.
North Union put its lone run on the scoreboard in the fourth inning to make the score
3-1. Indian Lake increased its lead to 4-1 with a run in the fifth and the Lakers blew the game open with a five-run sixth inning.
“I challenged the team after our last game to step it up a notch,” said Indian Lake head coach John Stahl. “They responded very well tonight. We hit great and played some incredible defense. This team never ceases to amaze me.”
Madison Brentlinger earned the win in the pitching circle. She scattered six hits while striking out three and walking one. She did not allow an earned run.
Haylee Edwards went 3-4 with an RBI to spark the Indian Lake offense. Brentlinger went 2-3 with a double and three RBI, Porscha Davis had a double, Halle Roby went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI and Katie Roby went 2-3 to aid the Lakers’ win.
