CARTER |
A Kenton couple face charges after a 4:10 p.m. traffic stop Tuesday at Troy Road and Williams Avenue.
Heather M. Carter, 44, was arrested for improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana, while Tristen Mendenhall, 35, was taken into custody for a parole violation.
Officers stopped Carter’s van for a fictitious registration. Mendenhall was removed from the van after a records check revealed he was wanted.
Carter then told officers there were firearms in the van along with ammunition. She was removed from the van before officers searched the vehicle.
A duffle bag containing four handguns, 14 loaded handgun magazines, three holsters, loose ammunition and seven loaded rifle magazines was located, along with a rifle on the floor board.
Officers report the weapons and ammunition were within reach of the driver and front passenger seats.
Carter was arrested and she informed officers she had marijuana concealed in her bra.
The weapons were reported as stolen, according to officers.
The case has been referred to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of additional charges.
