REILLEY |
Justin L. Reilley, 27, of 400 Lincoln Boulevard, Apt. 49, Russells Point, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash Monday morning.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded about 10:40 a.m. to the area of Henry Street and Reynolds Avenue regarding a hit-skip crash involving a minivan striking a stop sign at the northeast corner of the intersection. The vehicle reportedly left the scene on north Main Street.
The vehicle was located in the parking lot of Vicario’s Pizza, 825 N. Main St., and the driver reportedly was sleeping inside the vehicle.
Officers said the vehicle’s engine was running and the transmission was in drive, with the operator’s foot on the brake.
Officers were able to keep the vehicle from rolling onto north Main Street and had to knock on the window to rouse the driver, identified as Reilley.
Officers observed an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the defendant. He admitted that he did not have a valid license, and during a registration check, officers found that he had a Bellefontaine Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving under OVI suspension, along with a warrant from Marysville Municipal Court. He was placed under arrest.
Reilley denied that he had struck anything with the vehicle. The vehicle was registered to Steven Glass, a relative of his girlfriend, who said the defendant did not have permission to operate the vehicle.
The defendant admitted to consuming alcohol the previous evening, and he submitted to a breath test, with a result of .09 blood alcohol content.
He was transported to the Logan County
Jail, where he also submitted to field sobriety tests.
Reilley also was cited for driving under financial responsibility suspension, driving under administrative license suspension and failure to control.
