Karen was born in Wayne County, West Virginia, on July 23, 1940, to the late Wayne and Lucille (Perry) Adkins. She married Richard D. “Dick” Coons on November 16, 1969, in Zanesfield, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1998. Karen worked as a secretary at Bulldog Electric, then worked several years at Carter Steel, and retired from Wrath Resources. Following her retirement, she worked part-time in housekeeping at Green Hills Community. She was a former member of First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, where she had also belonged to the Kings Daughters. Karen enjoyed gardening, reading books, and spending time with her grandkids. She was an extremely creative and caring person who loved to write poetry. She should’ve been a writer for Hallmark.
