Shirley L. (Berry) Holdren, 82, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Brookdale Marysville.
She was born in Bellefontaine, on April 23, 1939, to the late Thomas and Della (Stiffing) Berry. On October 12, 1958, she married John Holdren, and he preceded her in death on November 9, 2015. She is also preceded in death by a daughter: Susan D. Holdren; 10 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by children: Brenda J. Holdren and Steven D. Holdren; grandchildren: Nicki (Derrick) Young, Connie (David) Owen and Johnathan (Dorothea Welsh) Holdren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister: Olive Woodard and several nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Shirley was also a girl scout leader, a member of the Lions Club for 38 years, and worked the election polls for 32 years. She was a member of a round dance and a square dance club, and she enjoyed decorating wedding and birthday cakes. She also loved to sew, quilt and attend craft shows. Her and John enjoyed over 50 years together and got to travel all over the world. Her biggest accomplishment was writing a book about her daughter Susan, who she lost in 1980, after a two-year battle with leukemia.
Pastor Debby Stinton will officiate a funeral service at noon Saturday, October 30, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
