John W. Graber, 76, of the Trenton, Iowa, community, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at his home.
Born April 8, 1938, in rural Trenton, Iowa, he was a son of the late Joseph Lloyd and Alice Brannon Graber. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Graber; and a sister, Esther Hirschy.
On Dec. 21, 1995, he married the former Sherry Myers Moser, formerly of Logan County, at the Trenton Missionary Church and she survives, along with four stepchildren, Randy Moser, Ryan (Melissa) Moser and their son, Jayvin, Rodney Moser and Jennifer (Matthew) Harvey, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Ruth (Max) Wyse of Wayland, Iowa, Marilyn Davison and Josephine (Charles) Conner, both of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Cecille Graber of Burlington, Iowa; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
He attended Eagle Country School and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1957.
A lifelong farmer, John worked the family’s century farm and raised livestock until he retired.
John was active in the Trenton community and the Trenton Missionary Church, where he had attended since infancy. He served his Lord and Savior as usher, trustee, Sunday School superintendent and many other acts of service. He was a sexton of Green Mound Cemetery in rural Trenton. He was an Iowa Hawkeye basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today, March 18, at the Trenton Missionary Church, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The Rev. David Forrester officiates a funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the church. Interment is in Green Mound Cemetery.
