Ivan M. “Bird” Neer, 58, of West Liberty, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at his home.
He was born born April 13, 1957, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Marvin and Barbara Cubbage Neer. Ivan also was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Earnest Samson; brothers, Gary and Norman Neer; and nieces, Ashley Neer and Carol Ann Coil.
He is survived by wife, Lea Annette Samson Neer; children, Clayton (Mikie) Neer and Dilys Ann (Kenny) Janes; grandchildren, Charles (Van), Ahyleace, Carter, Isaac, Isaiah and Brenden; his sister, Dilys (Jake) Coil Sr.; and a brother, Mark (Shanna) Neer; mother-in-law, Evelyn Samson; sister-in-law, Zoe (Wade) Stegal; brother-in-law, Russ (Doris) Samson and Fracy; cousins, Kelly and Kevin Roush; nephews, Randy (Tiffany) Neer, Jake Coil Jr., Floyd Coil, Marvin (Heather) Neer, Dustin Samson, Tyson Neer and Alva Stegal; nieces, Samantha (Kelly) Rogers, Sasha (Kaleb) Guinn and Sundae Stegal; and several great-nephews and nieces and dear friends.
Bird spent 20 years working at Mad River Mountain’s maintenance department. He loved to spend his spare time playing with his grandkids, mudrunning, racing at LaRue, and working in his garage.
Visitation is two hours prior to a funeral at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home, West Liberty.
