John Charles “Jack” Dally, 79, of West Mansfield, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Hospice of Central Ohio within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
A 1959 graduate of Bokescreek Local High School in West Mansfield, he also attended The Ohio State University. Jack served in the Air National Guard from 1963-1969 and a dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol before embarking on his nearly 51-year career as an agent for Nationwide Insurance, where he was honored with the Champion’s Club.
He was a York Rite 32nd Degree Mason since 1973, most recently with the East Liberty #247 Masonic Lodge, a member of the Aladdin Shriners since 1976, the American Legion Post 603 in West Mansfield, served on the West Mansfield City Council from 1996-2013, and attended the West Mansfield United Methodist Church.
Having a great sense of humor, Jack was always full of jokes and had a good tale to tell. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating and spending time at home on Lake Erie with Monika. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State football and basketball teams. In his later years, he enjoyed being a grandfather and spending time on his beloved farm.
Born July 12, 1941, in Bellefontaine, he was the son of the late John Donald and Mona (Bailey) Dally.
On July 8, 1995, in Columbus, he married Monika (Bidner) Dally and she survives in West Mansfield. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Dally, and grandson, Ian Dally of Powell; a stepson, Charles Glisson of Dublin; a sister, Claudia (James) Goodwin of Roanoke, Va., along with other extended family and friends.
The family would like to express special appreciation to the caregivers at Mary Rutan Hospital, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Hospice of Central Ohio for the wonderful care and compassion provided to Jack.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 13, at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Reverend Darnell Mathys will officiate and burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Logan County Honor Guard.
Ian Dally, Charles Glisson, Johnny Goodwin, Kurt Berhalter, Chad Carpenter, Jeremy Mathys, Darnell Mathys, and Bobby McCarthy will serve as pallbearers and Joe Bell and Elvis Painter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
