Jo Ellen Craig Jackson, 79, loving mother of Nicole Jackson (Frank) Angst, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in Frankfort, Ky.
Born June 27, 1936, and raised in West Liberty, she was a daughter of the late John and Alice Craig. She graduated from Stephens College, where she was a Prince of Wales Club member; and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Missouri where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority member. She received a master’s degree from the University of Louisville.
She ran the family business, Craig’s Coal Yard and Elevator for 21 years in West Liberty. She later worked as a Realtor at Semonin Realtors. In recent years she had resided in Simpsonville, Ky.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a grandson, Andrew, and sister, Janet Lou (John) Dete.
She loved to travel and shared a love of horses with her daughter. In recent years Jo Ellen loved visiting her grandson, who has inherited an independent spirit from his grandmother. Jo Ellen also enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Daisy and Sweet Pea.
A celebration of her life is set from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 18, in the Frankfort home of her daughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Kentucky Humane Society and the American Cancer Society.
