Jeffrey Allen Metz, 61, of Bennington, Ind., born Nov. 20, 1959, in Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 at his home after a year-long battle with cancer.
He married Rhonda Oder Sept. 25, 1982 and they had three children together Megan Kephart, Lebanon; Jason (Whitney) Metz, serving in the U.S. Air Force in Virginia; and Joshua Metz, serving the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington.
Surviving is his wife of nine years, Pamela, of Bennington, Ind., his mother, Beverly Shroyer of Beavercreek, a sister, Stephanie (John) Boyer of Alabama, brother, Darryl (Kelley) Shroyer of Beavercreek, sister Melinda (Taylor) Mattox of Gahanna, step- sister, Deborah Tussing of Jackson Center, and step-children Cory Shelton and Kristen (Derek) Koger.
Jeff had 5 grandchildren, Xavier, Alexandra, Helena, Olivia and Davis, whom he loved very much. He also had several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, George Metz of Lakeview, just hours before his own passing. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Joanne Metz and his step-father, Donald Shroyer.
He graduated from Indian Lake High School in 1978. Jeff was a member of the Bellefontaine First Church of God, where he taught Sunday school.
He worked for more than 35 years at Honda in Marysville and Honda in Greensburg, Ind., and was eagerly looking forward to retirement. He was planning on a life of country living with his wife Pam in Indiana, where they built their new home.
Jeff was a Boy Scout when he was young, he enjoyed travel, woodworking and history (especially Civil War era history).
No funeral service is planned at this time, but there will be a memorial service at a later date to celebrate his life.
