Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Kelley, 59, of Urbana, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, in Mercy Health Urbana Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1958, in Urbana. He was a 1976 graduate of Urbana High School and a 1980 graduate of Anderson University in Anderson, Ind.
He was currently employed as a rural postal carrier, choir director for the St. Paris United Methodist Church and a broadcaster for WPKO in Bellefontaine. He touched many lives through his vocations. He loved working at the post office and serving his customers. Jeff had a lifelong background in music and broadcasting and he used his talents in those fields, as well. Also, Jeff was an avid sports fan and could engage almost anyone on that topic. His favorite teams were the OSU Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Browns and the Sacramento Kings. The sun rose and set in his children, but it was even more profound with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by many. Those of us who love him take great comfort that he is with our Lord and Savior and we will see him again someday.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Brown Kelley; his parents, Myron T. and Norma Jean Wallace Kelley; his children, Amy (Josh) Zimmers, April (Endrit “Andy” Rama) Kelley, Reese Kelley and Ross Kelley; his grandchildren, Destiny and Gunner Zimmers and Mason Spence; his siblings, Jon (Marianne) Kelley, Jill Peters and Jenny (Dave) Powell; father- and mother-in-law, Edward and Beverly Brown; sister- and brother-in-law, Jenny and Scott Snyder; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert “Robbie” Edward Walder; and grandparents, Zella and Harold McCormick and Maude and Griff Kelley.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, where Pastors David E. Kepple and Tom Amlin officiate funeral services to celebrate his life at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, following an hour of calling. Burial will be held at the family’s convenience.
